Burning Sun
Sequel to On the Surface. Part of the BioShock: World in Rapture story arc. The characters may be on the surface (I'm thinking they'll get up there by 1972/3), but now they're not going to like it...
The year is 1977. Oscar Orrin Lutwidge has smuggled ADAM up to the surface, and much of the United States is caught in the middle of a civil war that has raged for two years between spliced-up citizens, mainly former hippies who thought they were simply tripping on acid, and the United States government. Weakened by having to pull out of Vietnam to suppress the Second Civil War, racked by the Watergate scandal, and lead by a bumbling President Harold Boone, it has given almost all power to the secretive Pirandello-Kruger Security, possibly under Lutwidge's control as well.
The United States is therefore now a dictatorship in all but name. The current battle lines are drawn in New York City, where PK has taken control of upper Manhattan, the Bronx, and Queens, while lower Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Staten Island are in chaos. Parts of it belong to splicer warlords, while the germs of an organized resistance of sane humans called the New Culper Ring (or Culperites) send Runners, parkour experts who traverse the divided city, past the extensive PK security network, to bring information between Culperite cells. Meanwhile, Brigid Tenenbaum, Charles Milton Porter, and Erin, along with our heroes from the BioShock: Apocalypse story arc (Rapture Is Just Born The Suicide of Rapture On the Surface), support the Culperites, and have developed nano upgrades to the Big Brother/Daddy/Sister armor and the Portal Gun, which allows the user to create portals between dimensions...
Kind of a quadruple cross between BioShock/Crysis/Mirror's Edge/Portal- my favorite games other than Call of Duty. I know it's a lot to take in, but we could do another trilogy with this. |
